Basic Information
Here are the basic details of the organization.
Name of the organization:
Art History Association
New Organization:
Old
Semester:
Autumn 2009
Board:
Academic
Intercollegiate:
Not intercollegiate
Description:
Art History Association will put on programs, discussions and lectures throughout the semester.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Art History Association is to further an understanding of works of art in a historical context as well as create an awareness of the place of art in society, most importantly as part of the public trust. The Art History Association achieves these goals through organizing field trips to museums and historic sites in the northeast, through a lecture series, by working closely with the Samuel Dorsky Museum and by coordinating an annual symposium on art related subjects. In sponsoring these activities, we create a way for students to further their studies outside of the classroom. We also hope to engage the campus community through quality extracurricular programming.
