Description:
A group of students who love to dance and organize dance programs, classes and conferences.
Purpose:
A group of students who love to dance on SUNY New Paltz campus. Each member is not necessarily a member of a dance team on this campus, but rather someone who loves to dance and wants to learn, teach, and choreograph pieces. As a club/ organization, we plan to hold free weekly dance classes at the gym on campus for the New Paltz students and faculty, as well as sponsor well known choreographers to have workshops at SUNY New Paltz and bring more diverse types of dance to our campus, such as a musical theatre choreographer from Broadway Dance Center in NYC and a drum workshop that incorporates African dance lesson and how to play the jembe. In addition we would look to enable students throughout various dance clubs on campus and participants in Fresh Dance who are active in the organization to have the opportunity to grow as dancers and attend a dance convention called The Pulse which takes place in NJ during the winter season, it would be a great opportunity to ensure that dancers are continuing to work hard over winter break. Our meetings and classes will be available to everyone on our campus, and we welcome any level of dancer from beginner to advanced pro.
