Cosmic Club

The idea of this organization is to create a fun and educational way for students of any major to learn about astronomy. Astronomy is a growing topic of interest, yet many people do not understand its depth. Cosmic Club will offer a different topic at each meeting, and provide a slideshow, starshow, or movie in the Planetarium pertaining to said topic. Students will always have the chance to ask questions and suggest topics of interest. Cosmic Club will put together a few shows for a younger audience and invite elementary school classes for star shows that they might enjoy. The club will also use telescopes on clear viewing nights to look at planets and stars in the New Paltz sky. People don't always have a clear view of the night sky and the beauty of the stars. With Cosmic Club, students will have the opportunity to view the night sky and all of its stars in the Planetarium. Members are encouraged to lead their own shows and projects as well.
