Description:
A club where students can get a taste of German culture
Purpose:
The purpose of the New Paltz German Club will be to provide students with the opportunity to experience German culture. Opportunities will include events such as German cooking exhibitions, German music (both traditional and modern), German history, and exhibition of German sporting events. Guest speakers such as German Authors and German members of New York based corporations are also planned. Another special thing the German Club will include will be special meetings where members and non-members can hear about experiences from returning students who have studied in Germany. As well as get information about planning their own study abroad experience in Germany. Also occasional excursions will be planned to locations in and around New Paltz where students will be able to experience first hand German Culture and its fusion with American life in the Hudson Valley. The German club in associated with the German Film Club and Kaffeestunde and members and non-members will be invited to attend events. Germany is fascinating country and a critical partner for the United States both politically and economically. We hope to foster, with the German Club at New Paltz, a strong interest in Germany and the German language that will lead students to consider them as essential items of study for an international career.
