Purpose:
The purpose of HSO [Hispaniola Student Organization], a student organization, is to educate the New Paltz community on the acculturation, traditions and customsof the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Hispaniola is the collective island of Haiti and Dominican Republic; these two countries are often thought to be polar opposites when in fact they are isotropic despite the native languages. In particular, HSO serves as an outlet for students to learn about the culture as well as giving back to these foreign countries by conducting food and clothing drives. With great acumen, HSO will expedite engaging programs that can be academic as well as recreational for it's participants; we will contribute to uniting the campus as a collective unit.
