Description:
The Little Rebellion is a student run online news publication on SUNY New Paltz campus.
Purpose:
The Little Rebellion is a student run, online news publication on SUNY New Paltz campus. All journalism majors are required to take the Advanced Editing course at some point in their college career. Advanced Editing is a four credit course that meets once a week for close to four hours. In those four hours, the staff runs the class like a traditional newsroom, separated into three groups: the copy editing desk, the multimedia desk, and the web editing desk. Not only does the staff run the publication by uploading print, audio and video news footage, but it is also a requirement that each student contributes a minimum of three original pieces throughout the semester. The publication goes beyond the classroom borders, accepting original articles--news, feature, sports, performing arts, etc.--from any outside sources, so long as the web editors find the material appropriate and newsworthy. The Little Rebellion is structured like all other web publications, and we seek to promote the website as much as possible so that the campus can have exposure to news in a multimedia form.
