New Paltz Fencing Club

The New Paltz Fencing Club is an organization that has been existence for over 35 years and has worked together with students of all levels, ages and disabilities to create an environment that promotes physical, social and personal growth. As a team, and with the help of professionals, we work together to learn the art of fencing and utilize our skills in various local and intercollegiate events; many of our members joined our club new to the sport and have left at the end of the year as nationally qualified fencers. This tournament to determine their national competitive ability is held at the end of the spring semester every year, and it is our goal to send as many of our fencers as possible. We have just recently teamed with the Disability Resource Center to provide our services to mobility impaired students and are planning on attending local wheelchair fencing tournaments. It is our goal to reach out to as many students as possible in order to help them reach their potential in a collegiate sport, and to allow them to the welcoming and supportive community that is the fencing club at SUNY New Paltz.
