A performance company for audiences in search of diversity, unconventionality and the contemporary.
Purpose: 
Amidst the paucity of contemporary stories and people of color on stage at New Paltz, THE NEW THEATER invites skilled professionals and theater artists of color from New York City to New Paltz to perform new theater that is rarely if at ever presented with high artistic expertise on stage on our campus. In accomplishing our mission, THE NEW THEATER cultivates a a campus population that will support and patronize more diverse cultural arts experiences while at New Paltz and, in the case of students, once they leave the university.
