The NP Jazz Orchestra is a student-organized band that gives students the opportunity to play jazz, increase their knowledge and appreciation of jazz, and develop their skills as musicians in a typical '40's Big Band setting. The band will play all types of Jazz pieces, including swing, dixieland, latin, rock, and almost every other sub-genre (original compositions are always welcome too!). The band will need students who play trumpet, trombone, alto/tenor/baritone saxophone, guitar, upright/electric bass, piano, and drums, but students who play cornet, clarinet, flute, french horn, violin, viola, cello, tuba, sousaphone, tenor/baritone guitar, banjo, ukulele, vibraphone, organ, ethnic drums, or just about any other instrument are more than encouraged to join. Auditions will be held for the rhythm section (keyboards, bass, guitar, drums), but more than one of each instrument will be needed. The band will rehearse once a week and will have several performances over the course of the semester
