NYPIRG offers unique internship and volunteer opportunities in categories that are most appealing to the public interest. Our Voter Mobilization project will aim to register hundreds of students to vote and get them to the polls come election day. Our Higher Education project will teach students to organize and lobby public officials regarding issues such as financial aid, TAP, and tuition prices. Our Environmental Project will focus on pressing issues such as clean air & water, global warming, and hydrofracking, organizing events to create public awareness and implement just legislation regarding these topics. Our Hunger & Homelessness project will focus on leading food & clothing drives to benefit the local homeless population. Our Consumer Action Project will focus on educational forums and events creating awareness on issues such as tenants rights, student loans, and identity protection. NYPIRG offers an on-campus 3-credit internship program that students can apply for, where they will lead one of the previously listed issues. Students will gain experience in areas not typically offered in academia such as event planning, how to organize a press conference, public speaking and how to lead a meeting, lobbying public officials and much more!
