Description:
We are a group of students interested in building hope and are not afraid to get dirty
Purpose:
Habitat for Humanity is a club where you can meet other students who love to volunteer and more importantly build hope one house at a time. Habitat for Humanity’s vision is of a world where housing poverty and homelessness have been eliminated, and everyone has a safe, decent place to live; a place that they can call ‘home’, because the home is a key catalyst in helping to permanently break the cycle of poverty. The dates we've been assigned to a build as a club this Fall 11' Semester are 8AM-1PM: Saturday September 10th, Saturday October 15th, and Saturday November 12th. A member from our club goes to a build most other Saturdays, and is allowed to bring up to 4 others on non-club dates. Join the Facebook group “SUNY New Paltz Habitat for Humanity Club” to stay connected! We'll be holding a few fundraisers this semester and plan to do a Midnight Run in NYC. Also in the works is a Sleep Out on Main Street to raise awareness of substandard living conditions and homelessness. Club meets are Thursdays from 8:00p-8:30p in SUB 402.
