Description:
Random comedy generated by audience suggestion in the style of "Whose line is it anyway?"
Purpose:
TBA Improv was created four years ago by a small group of theater majors with a love for improv comedy. Since then the group has doubled in size and increased its popularity through monthly performances in the SUNY New Paltz dormitories. Our group’s popularity has increased so much that, we now host improv workshops both on and off-campus. The group has also begun work with community service by hosting workshops and fundraiser shows on Long Island as well as in New Paltz. The growth of our success is strongly accredited to our mission statement: We at TBA Improv love improv comedy because our performances rely strongly on the suggestions from the audience. This makes our shows incredibly special because they are a one-time experience that interacts with one audience, never to be repeated again. We apply this mission statement not only to our shows but our workshops as well. Our group is open to anyone who has an interest for improv and willing to learn, because we want everyone to experience the fun of improv comedy as we do. Our workshops help the students develop improv techniques, understanding of communication on stage, methods in public speaking, personal confidence, and above all else, our workshops are designed to be fun.
