The Zeitgeist Movement

The Zeitgeist Movement is a global network of individuals advocating education and awareness of the root causes of our society's problems. This vision is achieved on a local level by integrating the community and unifying groups and individuals, both in the student body and greater New Paltz community. Our mission is to bring people together by starting sustainable open source projects with student involvement, advocating conscious consumerism and focusing on the local economy. We will also hold workshops focusing on self sustainable practices such as permaculture, solar water heating. The Zeitgeist Movement is working toward raising global awareness of our current negative social habits (e.g. consumerism) and how our actions create enormous negative impacts all over the world. TZM acknowledges that our (global) society needs to rethink its values in order to create change. This is only possible when starting on the local community level.
