Description:
Educates and works to stop the use of child soldiers in Uganda + human trafficking
Purpose:
Last semester Synthesis became an umbrella organization for Invisible Children Club and Recycling Club, this year we are continuing the umbrella use but would prefer to be referred to with each club’s specific name. They are connected under the general goal of being social movement organizations that work to empower and educate individuals on how to build positive cultural change. Invisible Children Club won the Best New Club of the year award from the SAUCE office, raised money by having movie screenings and hosting a visit from the Roadies and a book drive and attending The Rescue in New York City. Invisible Children club works to educate the American population about the terrible situation of child soldiers in Uganda so that we can come together and end Africa’s longest running war. Our purpose is to educate people about a situation that does not receive much media coverage so that the issue can be addressed. We have lobbied to our congressmen by writing letters and participating in a rally in Brooklyn that was organized by the Invisible Children non-profit organization. By educating people about the situation in Uganda and Nepal hopefully we can try to stop the atrocities while also appreciating our own way of life. Officers: Lauren Brois, Kathryn Peartree, Erin Davis, Leah Favia, Sara Merrill, Arantza U.,
