Description:
A club for all PoliSci/IR majors, minors and those who are just interested
Purpose:
The Political Science/International Relations Club serves two main functions. First, we provide a forum for students to connect with their Professors outside of the classroom with a Small Lecture Series. Hot topics in the news are discussed by the students with a professor in the department with a background in the topic and can offer insight to the discussion that would otherwise be missing. Second, we have participated in the SUNY Model E.U conference for the past 3 years. This year it will be hosted by Limerick University in Ireland and a group of students will be traveling to participate in a simulation of a session of the European Union. This is a great opportunity for students to travel outside of the United States, understand Parliamentary Procedure and create networks all over the world. In addition, the Club hopes to revamp a past tradition with a Faculty Guided trip to Washington where students will meet with New Paltz alumni and get to know our nations capital.
