Description: 
promotes sustainable food systems in community and on campus
Purpose: 
SSA began in 2005 in an effort to connect students with local farms and educate them about the importance of sustainable agriculture. To this end, we host a variety of speakers, organize documentary viewings, and collaborate with the community to bring about change. We have since worked with the CAS board to bring local food to the campus eateries and arrange for Hasbrouk Dining Hall to contribute to a composting facility in Poughkeepsie. Our largest project this semester will be establishing an organic student-run garden on campus.
