Description:
Urban/Street Fiction books discusses issues that come up in literature and exist in urban areas
Purpose:
The purpose of the group is to express support for the urban fiction genre which is the new market in literature. In Bi weekly meetings we will discuss the relevance of the genre as well as assign books and discuss the topics that come up. Urban Fiction is specific to African American and Latino audiences so topics will be based on their relationships, economic status, and neighborhoods. Group leaders will network with authors and publishing companies to get books free of charge. When this is not an option we will request from general programming to provide books for group members. There will be structured discussion each meeting. Eventually the group would like to expand and request for authors who work within the genre to come and speak.
