About the CRCÂ
The duties and responsibilities of the Constitution and Rules Committee shall include, but not be limited to:
- Formulating and proposing amendments to the Constitution and the By-laws for the Senate, Council of Organizations, Executive Board, Programming Board, and Judicial Board.
- Proposed amendments to the constitution must be presented to the Senate for approval, upon approval these amendments must be presented to the entire student body and shall take effect once the constitutional requirements are met.
- Proposed by-laws must be presented to the Senate for approval, upon approval by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of those present, these by-laws shall take effect.
- Conducting, overseeing, and certifying the results of elections, and arbitrating disputes concerning the validity of these elections.
- Establishing an ad-hoc committee for the express purpose of conducting and overseeing elections.
Article V, Section III and Article VI Section III of the SAConstitution outline the membership of the Constitution and RulesCommittee as 5 members from the council and 5 members from the StudentSenate. However, with the addition of the 6th house (Media) on theCouncil, there have been 6 members from each body.
